Hello.

Wow. It's been a while.

Even with the best of intentions to post regularly, this somehow slipped off my radar. I guess life got in the way a bit, because it has been a busy six months. Four jobs (at the same time), a beautiful wedding and a mini-moon later, I am sitting here with a swollen eye (post-op) thinking that now is a good time to get back into this. 

Christmas has been pretty lovely this year. I underwent eye surgery about a week ago to mend a detached retina, something I had no idea about but which I've since been told is fairly common. While this was of course unexpected and threw most of our Christmas plans out, it has actually meant that I've had to slow down and just relax at this time of year. I'm incredibly lucky to have wonderful people around me, who have made the recovery process much easier. My amazing husband (we're still trying to get used to our new titles) has been especially caring, which has just reinforced to me how fortunate I am. xx

Panther hunting

Some long overdue photos from a family trip to Hall's Gap... ten years on from our last Grampians weekend, fifty or so Boyles got together to walk up mountains, eat lots of food, cuddle new babies, catch up and eat more food. Sadly, there were no panther sightings. There was, however, a family slide night, and a couple of 1980s home videos thrown in for good measure.

School kids need lunch money

Schoolhouse Studios have just launched their Pozible project to fund the development of a new site. Please have a look and if you can, make a contribution to this valuable project. It has taken many hours and a lot of energy and dedication for them to get this off the ground, and it would be absolutely amazing to see it come to fruition. 

Goodbye Schoolhouse

For the past year I have been lucky enough to have a small space at the wonderful Schoolhouse Studios in Abbotsford. This place has become so much more than just a studio, for so many people. 

Two very talented ladies, Elizabeth Barnett and Alice Glenn, launched Schoolhouse in 2011, with the knowledge that the site would eventually be demolished to make way for a new townhouse development.  Since then, many more people have come on board and contributed to the running of Schoolhouse, and it really has developed into a tight-knit community of creative folk. About two weeks ago, we got notice to vacate. It's a bittersweet ending, because although we all knew it was coming, I think in the back of our minds we had hoped that it wouldn't. 

There will be a new premises for the community from Schoolhouse, but the site and the spaces that have become so much a part of our lives will soon disappear completely.
